How Toxic Is Your Dog?

We live in a toxic world. Everywhere around us we get warned about toxins. They are in our foods, our drinks, the products we use. There is no escaping from it. The world is more polluted than ever. We cleanse our bodies through juices, diets or even medical procedures. But did you know your dog is also at risk of ingesting all these toxins. They might even be more prone to getting toxins in their body than we realize.

Most dogs live in high populated cities, only a few are lucky enough to be living on the country side. Our modern dogs don’t live outside all days anymore. Most dogs live in a house where they spend most of their days indoors until they go out on a walk.

The problem with this, is that they come in contact with more toxins on a constant basis. We need our house, our clothes to smell good. We have more factories, more vehicles, more loud noises. We need everything done for us, so we have more devices helping us make life easier.

Cancer in dogs in more common than ever. It has been linked to the toxins we put our dogs in contact with, without realizing they’re so bad. Nutrition, exercise and genes do have a role in this as well. But we have to realize we need to protect our dogs against these harmful toxins that can shorten their lifespan.

What are some of the toxins our dogs come in contact with?

Radiation. There are of course the radiations that our electric devices emit. It is said that every electronic device sends out a certain amount of radiation. This can in the long-term result in illness. It can’t be seen, smelled or touched, but it is there. This goes for our mobile phones, tv’s, computers, Alexa’s, even our refrigerator.

Toxic Fumes. We have way more transport than ever before. More trucks, ships, planes and cars. When walking your dog in the neighborhood, you come in contact with all this traffic. Our planes emit toxins from the air, ships pollute our waters, trucks and cars emit toxic fumes. These are not just inhaled by ourselves, but also our dogs. They are lower to the ground than we are, so they get the full taste of car fumes when they drive by.

Air fresheners. They might make your house smell nice, but it has a bad influence on your pets. They inhale the fumes which can cause trouble with the respiratory system and internal organs. The plug-ins which are popular, are being warned against for the health of your pet. They are put close to where are dogs sleep, to mask the smell of dog. This means that your dog in constantly being exposed to these harmful scents. Remember, their sense of smell is many times stronger than ours.

Cleaning products. Same as the air fresheners. When you use cleaning products on your floor, your dogs’ paws will absorb these. This also goes for laundry products. It makes their bedding smell nice, but it is all toxic to them. We don’t realize how bad these smells are. It is all chemically made. It’s not natural. Chemicals are needed to keep the scent last longer and stronger.

Car Spills. Our streets are not clean. If you would walk outside bear feet, you’ll come back home with black feet. You might even get some glass in your feet. Our dogs always walk bear feet outside. When they come home, they clean themselves, lick their paws. If they have walked through spilled oil, anti-freeze or other car fluids, this is ingested and can damage their organs. This can result in illness or even death. You can’t see everything that has been on the street, but it is there. Rain spreads fluids that have been spilled. Your dogs walk through that every time.

So how do we limit our dogs’ toxic intake?

Just like we do a cleanse to rid our body of toxins, we can do the same for our dogs. There are herbs, tinctures that are safe to use for dogs to help cleanse their body and support the cleansing organs. The liver and the kidney are the most important cleaners in the body. With the amount of pollution, they’re exposed to, they have to work extra hard.

It is a good idea to wash your dog with safe, natural products to rid their coat of absorbed toxins.

Clean their paws after they have gone out for a walk. Some people might even have their dogs put shoes on. Does keep their paws safe from any glass anyway.

Look through your cleaning products, read the labels. They come with warnings for us as well. There are so many natural solutions and sometimes they’re even cheaper.

For a healthy lifespan, we need to protect our dogs. They are made to live in our homes, in our world. The least we can do, is protect them from harmful toxins that want to hurt them. We should try to steer away from chemical enhanced products and look for a natural solution that will not harm our dogs.
